Last night I finished my last blue block for the scrappy postage stamp quilt. All those pretty blue scraps made 37 blocks! I was pretty sick of blue by the time I reached the last block, but it felt so good to finish them up because now I can get started on the next color.
I discovered when sorting through my scraps for this quilt that I have two kinds of pink fabrics: traditional pinks and pinks that were a bit, well, peachier. Is that even a word?
So, on to peachy pinks. There won't be as many blocks with this color, but I think that will make it more fun since I'll be on to the next color sooner this time. Here's a look at my first block:

P.S. Master W. was sick with a fever all weekend (I was hoping he'd be better by Sunday but he was feeling worse), so I wasn't able to attend the baby shower. This means, of course, a slight delay in posting a reveal of my super-secret project. Hopefully, I'll be able to post some photos soon!

I like peachier pinks too. They're kind of melon colored? Great little block!
ReplyDeleteThank you! And you're right, they are kind of melon colored. They're just different enough that I didn't want to throw them in with the rest of the pinks.
DeleteWhat size are the individual blocks? This quilt is going to be fantastic... Your blog makes me want to have a sewing blog too... But I don't think I have the energy to keep up two blogs... I really love it here. -robyn
ReplyDeleteThe blocks are going to finish at 4" square, which seems to add further Proof that I've lost my mind in tackling this quilt. There are going to be a gazillion of them by the time I finish! :)
DeleteLet me know if you ever start up a sewing blOg so I can follow it. I can tell from experience that running two blogs is a challenge but a lot of fun!
That's going to be incredible! I can't wait to see the finished product- I wish I could see it in person... That's going to be really wonderful!
DeleteStumbled across this looking for ways to use up my scraps...This looks like it is going to be so cute! Can't wait to see it finished.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by! Check out the Scrap Attack Quilt-Along over at Stitched in Color (http://www.stitchedincolor.com/) if you're looking for some great projects. :)
DeleteI like your new blocks. I often call that color coral. I'm glad you have the patience to do just one color at a time. It's probably much more organized that way. Working one color at a time drives me crazy.
ReplyDeleteOh, coral is the word I was looking for! :) I like working with one color at a time... until I get to those last few blocks. Then I can't wait to finish and move on to the next color! Green is going to be a tough one, because I have a TON of green squares compared to the other colors. Maybe even more than I had for blue. Eeep! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteOmg they look so cute I saw them from the http://makingrebeccalynne.blogspot.com/. And thought wow those look interesting, mainly as I've been collecting actual stamps lately. I have a lot of scraps that could do with some using up.
ReplyDeleteIf you make a tutorial I would love to see it x
Thanks, Cherie! I never thought to do a tutorial... I'm going to file that one away for later! :) Thanks for dropping by - come back any time!!
DeleteI am loving that peachy-pink color. I always die a little inside when I see clothes in that color, knowing it's not a good color for me to wear. That's the best thing about quilting - I get to use all those colors I can't wear!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny because I think I can wear that color fairly well, but I generally don't choose it for clothes. I do love these coral blocks, though. They're going to be such a great addition to the quilt! :)
DeleteThose blocks are amazing! So tiny ... you must be a patient person!
ReplyDeleteThank you! They are super small, but I think that's what makes them so easy and enjoyable. It does take patience, though, to get through them all! :)
